Hello! My name is Kristen Book, and I’m the proud owner of Hound About Town Pet Care. I’m a devoted animal lover, pet parent, and longtime dog rescue volunteer with a passion for providing thoughtful, personalized care to pets and peace of mind to their people.

As the pet parent of two high-needs rescue dogs — and as someone who personally relies on sitters for in-home pet care — I understand how important it is to find someone you can truly trust with your beloved pets and feel comfortable welcoming into your home. You want someone who will treat your pets with the same kind of attention, care, and compassion you would provide yourself.

With that in mind, I’m dedicated to providing care that goes beyond simply meeting the basics. Whether addressing your pet’s physical, emotional, or social needs, I take the time to understand what makes each pet unique and tailor my care accordingly. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind while you’re away, knowing your pets are safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for.

    Gizmo

    Chief of Security

    Gizmo was born in Texas and sent to a rescue in Michigan with his littermates at just two months old, where he was quickly adopted by our family in 2020.

    His favorite activities include barking at absolutely nothing, zooming around the yard at approximately 1,000 miles per hour, being a best friend to all our foster dogs and puppies, and being very dramatic about absolutely everything. He also loves everyone he meets as though they personally hung the moon in the sky and is completely obsessed with my husband.

    Nola

    Nola spent the first 4½ years of her life in a puppy mill in Nebraska before being relinquished to rescue and coming to us as a foster in 2023. It didn’t take long for her to make herself at home, and she very quickly became our first “foster fail.”

    Nola’s favorite activities include trying to be best friends with every dog she meets, snoring so loudly that the floor shakes, hollering at me when she decides it’s time to be fed, going on car rides and adventures, collecting treats from the staff at Lowe’s, and being completely obsessed with me.
